One of our clients in North Houston is seeking a Grant Accountant on a temporary basis. This position will be responsible for maintaining systems for processing and reporting grant records. Other responsibilities include: Assist division budget directors in preparation of budgets and accounting transactions, and review of reports; Record details of financial transactions in appropriate journals and subsidiary ledgers; Prepare monthly financial, reimbursement and ad hoc reports, including drawdown reports, for each individual grant; Review grant transactions on a monthly basis; develop corrections for the supervisor's signature; Prepare lead schedules for the annual audit as related to the Cooperative for After-school Enrichment (CASE) grants; Bachelor's degree from an accredited university in Accounting or business related field required; Must have taken a 3 hour course in governmental accounting as part of the Bachelor's degree; 3+ years' bookkeeping and/or accounting experience; Proficiently use software such as Excel, Word and PowerPoint; must possess the ability to type and keyboard by touch.
